About Me¶
Hi, I'm Jonathan. I've always been deeply curious about how the world around me works. In high school, most of my time was spent trying to understand the physical world. I scratched my head over General Relativity and pretended I understood Quantum Mechanics (I didn't). During college, my interest shifted towards understanding the digital world.
I’m a software engineer based in Brooklyn, NYC. I currently work at Amazon Web Services on the Python SDK team, maintaining boto3 and contributing to the next major version of the AWS SDK for Python. Most of my work sits at the intersection of Python, developer tools, and the careful decisions that keep software stable for people who depend on it.
I studied Computer Science at Texas A&M University, where I also spent time teaching, mentoring, and building software for student organizations. Through TAMU SHPE, I led technical projects connecting students, alumni, and recruiters. That work taught me how much good software depends on understanding the people who use it, not just the code behind it.
Music comes up a lot in what I build. I’ve made a Python SDK for Spotify and Melody, an app that uses AI to surface insights from your listening history. I also enjoy photography when I’m away from the screen.
This blog is where I'll write about things I’m learning and thinking about.
